Why do we never see a superposed cat?

Quantum logic, pushed all the way through, seems to predict that a cat could be "both dead and alive" (Schrödinger's cat). Yet we never observe anything of the sort in everyday life.

Explain what decoherence is and how it resolves this paradox. Why can an isolated atom stay in superposition, but not a cat?
