White-Light Spectrum and Order Overlap

A grating with 600 lines/mm is illuminated with white light (400 to 750 nm). Using equations, explain why a continuous colored spectrum is observed at order 1, and why orders 2 and 3 can partially overlap. Also discuss the influence of the number N of illuminated lines on the sharpness of the resulting spectrum.
