Proof of the fundamental relation

Using Pythagoras’ theorem and the co-ordinates of the point M(cos(theta), sin(theta)) on the unit circle, prove that cos²(theta) + sin²(theta) = 1 for any angle theta. Also explain how this relationship can be used to find the sine of an angle from its cosine.
